What is paper trading?
Paper bots trade with virtual money on real, live prices. Nothing is sent to an exchange and nothing can be lost.
A paper bot follows the market in real time and books its trades as if they happened, including realistic fees and slippage. Its balance is virtual.
Every new bot starts in paper mode. You can run several paper bots side by side to compare strategies.
How close is it to real trading?
- Same strategy, same risk rules and same fee model as a live bot.
- Fills are simulated: in fast markets a real order can get a worse price than the paper bot assumes.
- Paper results are a test, not a promise. A strategy that looks good on paper can still lose money live.
Important: Past results — paper or backtest — never guarantee future profit.
