Create a Bybit API key

A key with trade permission and no withdrawal or transfer rights.

Before you start

  • A sub-account with a limited balance is the safest choice.
  • For practice use testnet.bybit.com and choose “Testnet” when you add the key.

Steps

  1. 1Log in to Bybit and open your profile → API.
  2. 2Create New Key → “System-generated API Keys” → “API Transaction”.
  3. 3Name it, e.g. “AI Trade Bot”, and choose “Read-Write”.
  4. 4Permissions: tick Spot → Trade, and for futures bots Contract / Derivatives → Orders & Positions.
  5. 5Leave Wallet → Withdrawal and all Transfer options unticked.
  6. 6Submit, confirm, and copy the API Key and Secret.
  7. 7In the app: API keys → Add key → Bybit, paste both and save.

Important: A key with withdrawal or transfer rights is refused — this protects your funds even if a key ever leaked.
