Which exchanges can I use?
Ten exchanges for paper trading and backtests; five of them also for live trading.
Paper trading, backtests and live trading
- Binance, Bybit, Bitget — spot and USDT futures, with a testnet for practising with keys.
- OKX — spot and USDT futures, with Demo trading for testnet keys.
- KuCoin — spot and USDT futures (no testnet).
Paper trading and backtests only
- Gate.io, MEXC and HTX — spot and USDT futures. Kraken and Coinbase — spot only.
- Live trading isn't offered there yet: on Gate.io, MEXC and Kraken the API can't confirm that a key can't withdraw money, and we never accept a key we can't check. HTX and Coinbase spot have no stop-market orders, and a stop-limit can be skipped in a fast fall.
Tip: Some exchanges keep only recent candles, so backtests there can't reach far back: Gate.io the newest 10 000 (about a year of hourly candles), HTX futures 2 000 (about 80 days), Kraken only 720 (about 30 days).
Fees
Paper bots and backtests charge each exchange's standard fee for a new account — for example 0.1% per trade on Binance spot, 0.4% on Kraken and 1.2% on Coinbase. The exchange cards show the fee. High fees eat small profits quickly, so compare before you choose.
Maintenance
When an exchange has problems we may pause it: no new bots or backtests on it for a while. Running bots keep running, and their stop-losses stay at the exchange. The status page shows what's affected.
