Create an OKX API key

An OKX V5 key with Read + Trade only — never Withdraw. You choose a passphrase too.

Before you start

  • Use a sub-account with only the money the bot should trade (recommended).
  • To practise first, create the key in OKX Demo trading and choose “Testnet” when you add it.
  • OKX futures are counted in contracts (e.g. 0.01 BTC each). The bot converts this for you; very small balances may be below one contract.

Steps

  1. 1Log in to OKX and open your profile → API keys.
  2. 2Create API key → purpose “API trading”. Give it a name, e.g. “AI Trade Bot”.
  3. 3Permissions: keep Read and tick Trade. Do NOT tick Withdraw.
  4. 4Choose a passphrase and write it down — you need it in the app.
  5. 5Confirm with your security check, then copy the API key and the Secret key.
  6. 6In the app: API keys → Add key → OKX, paste key, secret and passphrase, and save.

Important: A key with the Withdraw permission is refused. We check every key again each day.
