Create a KuCoin API key

One KuCoin key works for spot and futures: General + Spot (+ Futures), no transfers or withdrawals.

Before you start

  • KuCoin has no testnet. Practise with paper trading, which needs no key.
  • Use a sub-account with a limited balance. Move the funds to its Trading (spot) or Futures account yourself — the bot never transfers money.

Steps

  1. 1Log in to KuCoin and open Account → API Management.
  2. 2Create API → “API Trading”. Enter a name and a passphrase; write the passphrase down.
  3. 3Permissions: General is always on. Tick Spot, and Futures for futures bots.
  4. 4Leave Transfer and Withdrawal unticked (Margin and Earn aren't needed either).
  5. 5Confirm with your security check and copy the API Key and Secret.
  6. 6In the app: API keys → Add key → KuCoin, paste key, secret and passphrase, and save.

Important: Keys that can transfer or withdraw are refused — and any permission we don't recognise is treated the same way.
